A Malay Wedding Makeup: Elyana Inspired

I think this will be my last video for the Malay wedding makeup, at least for now.
I will find a new series to start next week.
If you guys have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment below.
The actual makeup was done by Saidatulnisa (we have the same first name :p) for Elyana solemnization, I believe, not too sure actually.
But I think this type of makeup is really appropriate for the nikah or solemnization ceremony, while the ones that I did on Bienda or Ayu Raudhah is more suitable for the bersanding or reception.

A Malay Wedding Makeup: Ayu Raudhah Inspired

This video was recorded in the Malay language, Bahasa Melayu.
I thought that it was more appropriate since my inspiration was taken from a local celebrity, Ayu Raudhah.
She had her wedding earlier this year, and it was a very grand celebration.
Since everyone is talking about the Royal Wedding that took place last week and every makeup gurus are doing Kate Middleton's wedding makeup, I sort of wanted to do a wedding makeup too.
But instead taking inspiration from the Royal Wedding itself, I went on and took inspiration from Ayu Raudhah's Wedding, so we can relate better.
English brides are all about looking naturally beautiful, unlike Malay brides.
For a Malay bride, it is all about drama and looking beautiful like a movie star.
So it is more vibrant with the use of colors and perfect looking plastic skin with heavy contouring to really enhance their features.

MAC's Quite Cute - Bubble Tea

I love the new collection from MAC, they seemed so cute. I love their concept, so bubbly and girlish.
One of the looks from their facechart book is this one here called Bubble Tea.
Bubble Tea us actually the name of their lipstick which is a sort of pinkish nude color.
The eyes have a little bit of pink, coral and purple, very girly colors.

Egyptian Inspired: Gold & Blue Dramatic Cut-crease using Elianto

I wanted to use this new color I got from Elianto the other day.
It is from their new line of colors, the Luminous Shadow.
The color that I used was Thunder Blue, among others.
I would describe it as a frosty finish dark steel blue with tiny blue glitters.
I used it on crease on top of a matte black shadow also from Elianto.
All the colors that I used for this look is from Elianto, so it will be easier for you to get it and it quite affordable in my opinion.
A single pan shadow cost roughly between RM6 - RM12 per pan which really is a good deal.
Depending on their finishes some colors might be soft and easy to blend especially the frosty shimmery ones, while some of their mattes are a bit chalky.
I guess that is normal even for higher end brands such as MAC.

MAC's Wonder Woman - Mighty Aphrodite

This is one of favorite look from the entire collection.
Very sweet pastel pink paired with dark smokey burgundy in crease.
It does remind me a bit of the Tari Tirana look I did last year, only much more smokier with quite heavy liners on top and bottom lashes.
And also, the X factor of this look is the super red glossy lips.
I love it!!!

Oh, and I finally found my macro setting on my camera.
Yeayy!
You know how the macro setting is usually symbolized by a tiny flower logo on your camera.
Well mine did not have that familiar flower logo.
It had this weird squiggly logo that I did not realize was some sort of leafy design.
I only recognized the setting after I read closely, it says 'foliage'.
Then only I remembered macro settings is normally used to snap close up photos of trees and flowers, hence the name foliage. Duhh~
Mr. Canon, why can't you just label it macro?!

Siti Nurhaliza's Simplysiti Makeup Inspired Look

I did this look a few days ago.
I have been wanting to do this look for ages.
But this time it did not come out as well as I wanted.
I like my first trial a lot better.
I did record a video during my first trial, but the setting was way off, everything looked weird on screen.

A few months later. here I am with another video, trying to create the same look.
But it did not come out the same.
Maybe I should have watch my previous video first before I try to recreate again.

But whatever it is here is the final outcome.
Notice that I did my contouring a little different. ;p
And also I tried to redraw Siti's full rounded brows.

My Face Prepping & Foundation Application

So I've decided to share with my viewers how I do my foundation routine most of the time.
I admit, this is not suitable for everyday wear, since it is quite a heavy coverage, but anytime I want to have a flawless looking skin (which is actually every time, as I don't have porcelain clear skin ;p) this is the foundation that I'll use.

Without eye makeup.

The complete makeup look.

Particularly for this video, I've featured Naturactor Cover Face Foundation. I discovered this product a few months ago and I never look back. The price is really affordable. Since they do not have a sole distributer here in Malaysia, the price ranges between the minimum RM25 per pot to RM50 per pot from store to store, which is still affordable and relatively cheap compared to most high quality drugstore products.

It is basically a cream type foundation that can give you medium to full coverage depending on how u apply it and of course you can build your own coverage depending on your preferences.
Frankly speaking, I even use this foundation for most of my freelancing jobs.

The only downside of this foundation is their color range that is quite limited.
Note that they are originated from Japan, so the spectrum only covers light to medium skin tones, and most of the colors have pink undertone. I used to use 151, which is considered medium fair, but I think I'm going to continue using 152, which is medium from now on. The darkest is 150, which is kind of weird for their color coding. There are a few more colors available, but they are a lot lighter.
Oh gosh, I think I just did a mini review on these babies.

Same as my YouTube name Ekyn86.
I wanted to separate my freelancing work from my YouTube stuff.
I've already upload a new video, first one for this year.
I can't even remember the last time I did a video.
That shows how long that is.

This time I was excited about the new MAC Color Collection for Wonder Woman.
The packaging are so cute, the color story is not bad.
But as usual, I will not be buying anything from the collection, it is out of my budget, totally!
You don't need to buy MAC just to create a few looks.
There a whole lot of other makeup company that sells good quality products for about a quarter of the price of MAC.
So yeah, and also there is always the numbers of 88, 120, 160, 180 colors palette sold everywhere for less than a hundred ringgit, so no need to buy any of those RM65 per piece eyeshadow pots from MAC.

I downloaded the face chart book from MAC online, and one of the looks really grabbed my attention.
The colors used were bright and bold, just the way I like it.
So here is my out take on the MAC's Wonder Woman Marine Ultra Face Chart.

Although the blue lower lash line did not come out as bright as I would like to, but its is still ok when paired with my Blytheye Colored Contact Lenses in Blue that I got from Lensa MataQue.

So, I did this look yesterday.
About 3 o'clock in the morning.
Haha~.
I know, what am i doing up that late.
Exactly, this is what I did.

An avant-garde makeup look & tutorial for you, my Youtube subbies.
I have not put on this much makeup since like forever.
So, I wanted to get back into that, and this what I came up with.
I'm feeling sort of inspired last night, you could say.
I just went with the flow, from one thing let to another, finally, taa-daa!

However, this look reminds me of Alice in Wonderland somehow.
Not really my intention (maybe sub-consciously??)
I mean I really love the movie, so maybe I did this look intentionally.
I don't know.

Midnight Sun Look

So, the last time I have posted anything was about two months ago. That is a very long time. I have been busy. I'm currently attending a professional makeup class, held by a very well known celebrity makeup artist in this country. It has been a little bit disappointing these past few weeks (class cancellation and busy schedule of our guru), but I really hope that we can finish the course A.S.A.P. I can't wait to be a certified makeup artist and start my freelancing job in the next coming year.

Anyway, I have created a look today using mainly black and yellow. I have recently read the initial draft of Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer. It's actually the same story as Twilight but we're reading through Edward's point of view. It's very exciting, too bad Ms. Meyer have stopped writing it after the draft was leaked through the internet. Hmm.. (silent cry ~.~ )

Back to our look for today, it's a very wearable smokey look (i think) with a hint of bright color. It's pretty simple to do too, just follow my step by step tutorial video. But before that, here's a few pictures of the final look:

Tari Tirana's Tirana Inspired Look

So, have you guys ever watched Tari Tirana? I kinda like the series, although I have to admit, it is typical story. I mean people would say that it's just another rip-off of a lot of the American's dance flick, like Step Up or Make It Happen, just to name a few.

But, I do respect this series for trying to make something different for our local film and drama industry. TV3 have aired some really good series lately. Some of my favorite are Sindarela and Nur Kasih (thanks to my friend Amy, who recommended it).

Anyway, back to my post title. I've been following this series for a few weeks now, and I really enjoy it. And of course I can't stop noticing, that the cast members actually have pretty good makeup on, compared to other series that I've watched. One of the looks that caught my attention was worn by Tirana (played by Wan Sharmila also from Sindarella) on an episode that was aired on the 6th of October, and it was this really pretty, sweet looking baby pink, smokey eye makeup, and I just have to recreate it.

Yeah..
Rainbow eye makeup is soo over-rated, but i still wanna do something like that but with a bit of my flavor in it.

Arabian Sunrise Masquerade Look

Another dramatic and theatrical look by moi!!!
So, one of the cutest and funniest guru on Youtube (at least to me =)) was holding a contest. She goes by the username NikkieTutorials, and she's super talented and pretty as well. Her contest was called Nikkie's Masquerade Ball Contest, and we are supposed to create a mask loo. It sounded like so much fun right? It was fun to create my entry look. I had this idea of creating a mask some what similar to the one on Snow White's evil stepmother. Well, she wasn't wearing a mask exactly but she had something that could resemblance a skiing mask, something like. So, that's what I tried to do. I covered the area aroung my eyes and also following my jawline, leaving the area around my mouth and nose bare. I don't know if you guys get what I'm trying to describe, but here's a few pictures:

Garden Fairy Inspired Look

So, I was Googling some ideas for Halloween costumes, and I stumbled upon a really cute kiddies costume. It was a pretty purple dress with green reflects on it, with Fairy wings and other accessories. It was soo cuteeee. So, I thought I do a look inspired by the color combination. And then I remembered a contest that I wanted to enter and the theme was to create a look using the colors blue or green or both, and it was the perfect opportunity for look. So, here it is, my pretty fairy creation:

Pixar's For The Birds Inspired Look

So here's my final installment to my Deannario, GoldieStarling & SharksBiteOfLife's Pixar Inspired Contest. Yayy!!

So, for this look, I've chosen a short film by Pixar that's called for the birds. I really really do like the film. To me, it has a lot of morale values to it, and it certainly was interesting.

My inspiration of course come from the outstanding colors of the birds that are blue (from the feathers) and also some orange and yellow (from the feets and beaks). Isn't it obvious already?

I really am sorry because I can't list out all the products that I've used just because I don't remember it. But I'd be glad if someone would request it, I might re-do this look, at least something similar and more wearable.

Simply Smouldering Look

This was my entry for SassySunshiny01 & MadMadamJess simply Smouldering Contest.

I really like this particular look. It's dark with a touch of two of my favorite colors, pink and purple!! It's my ultimate smokey look, and I'm in love with it. I also love the highlighting lines on the inner and outer corner. It makes the whole look a look more interesting than just a plain smokey look.

It does have an Arabic feel to it with the blended gradient effect and the crisp edge. I hope you guys would love this look as much as I do.

A Day With My Little Cousin - Spidey vs. Venom

Hey guys!!
So, I have been spending a whole lots of time with my little cousin. His name ia Aish. He is only 5 years old.

The reason why I have been spending time with him is that his nanny was on leave for two months and his parents have asked me to sort of baby-sits him while his nanny come back.

So one day I decided to play with my makeup and have him as the model. Too bad he's a boy, otherwise, I would have dolled him up and have a hella fun time together.

So, instead, I face painted him, using my makeup, my eyeshadows to be exact. And believe in or not, I only used my Elianto eyesdows, and it worked!!

I did this mask of Spidey on one side and Venom on the other. I even did all the shadings on the venom just t give it a sort 3D effect. He did enjoyed himself, eventhough he fell asleep during the process.

MAC's Style Warrior - Gold Rebel Look

When I first saw this look on the MAC's website, I knew I had to do this. It is soo pretty. The purple really pops out with the yellow on the lids. It is such a contrasting color combo, but still, the outcome was beautiful. For this look I didn't use any of the actual products from MAc. I used what ever stuff I have. My Inner Vamp Look

With that said, lets go on with this post. This look is my entry for Danalajeunesse's Inner Vamp Contest. I really love this contest. It gives a chance to bring out my inner vamp look. I have been wanting to do a sort of dark vampy look for so long, and this is it!

I played with red, brown and black ( all three from my PAC Pearly Palette <-- my love!) and I really like the outcome. This is one of my best blended look and I'm in love with it! And the cheeks is also something that I love. I really contoured the face with some really dark powder and apply a really really red shadow as my blush! And of course, I highlighted my face like crazy, and I mean white matte shadow and some sparkle powder to really give the look a white frosty "dead-ish" look. Lol~ I would have changed the lip color but, it was so late in the morning, I just to get it done. So here are some photos:

Little Mermaid: Ursula Inspired Look

Another Under the Sea Inpired Look, sort of.. But this time it is based on the villain of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Ursula. She's the big bad lady octopus that took Ariel's voice when she decided to become human. I think.. I don't really remember.

Anyway, this is my entry for Juicystar07 1 Year Anniversary Contest. It is more of a dramatic look, but I think you can still wear it minus the tentacles design. It's a cut crease eye makeup with vibrant blue on the lids and deep dark purple in the crease. It wasn't so hard coming up with the color combination. I just took Ursula's actual eye makeup and translated it into mine.

And the tentacles is just for added dramatic effects. I wanted to create a mask but not like a typical mask covering around the eye area, but I wanted the tentacles to sort of wrapping the face. That's why I made it asymmetrical intead of symmetrical on both sides..

Again I won't post the actual products used because this was done about a week ago. So sorry guys.

Oriental Inspired Pinup Look

Hey guys..
I haven't done much update for the past week..
It has been a very overwhelming week for me. I had to juggle between babysitting three of my younger cousin during the day and filming makeup video at night, and sort edit and upload them in between.. So, trying to find time to write was a bit hard.

Anyways, I'm back and I'm going to post all of the looks I've created in the pass whole week.. So, we are going to start from the top. It's my Oriental Inspired Pinup Look for HaleyBean and TresChicBeauty Hollywood Glam and Pinup Contest.

I can't list the products I've used because it had been quite some time and I have a memory span the size of a peanut. So yeah.

So, the look is kinda different from the original and typical pinup look. It is inspired by the asian or oriental makeup style during the same period of Hollywood Glam (that is during the 50's and 60's), sort of.

They do have a similar cultures such as pinup and also their own glamorous actresses at that time. But the makeup had a lot definition in the sense of colors and intensity.I think this is due to the fact that they were women of colors, so, they need a bit more pigmentation to enhance their features and at the same time define their own culture.

Finding Nemo: Gill Inspired Look

So, hey guys.
I really hope you guys will love my entry this time.
It's actually for Deanario's Pixar Inspired Contest.
The theme was to choose a movie by Pixar and create a look (dramatic or wearable) base on any of the elements found in the movie such as the characters, scene, or just the colors used.

I haven's done any thing super dramatic lately, so I thought that I would give it a shot once more, since the gurus that are hosting this contest are doing a lot of these kinda of makeup for their channel.

It's based on the character Gill, from Finding Nemo. The one in the aquarium in the dentist's office. So, that's where all the colors came from. Yellow, black and white.

I didn't post a tutorial for this look for some reason.
A. It took me sooooo long to finish this look, and I don't think it could fit into a video.
B. The contest didn't require any tutorial, so I was so glad for that.

That's where I get my color combo which aqua green, dark blue, purple and a hint of yellow, which I think really brightens up the whole look.
The most interesting part bout this is actually the false lashes.
I actually made that one. Well, not from scratch of course, but I sort of, 'fancified' it bit more.
I used an old pair of lashes of mine and stick some sequins on the band, and also, I covered parts of the lashes with baby blue glitters.
So, it gives an overall frosty effect to the look.

Woody Woodpecker Inspired Look

So, this is my entry for PiinkBeautyy's Cartoon Inspired Contest.

I had so much fun doing this look, as this was my first time coming up with a look using all three primary colors in one look.

At first I wasn't really digging this look, cause I thought that the color combo weren't mixing well together.
In real life, it was kinda okay, but I thought that it was gonna come out patchy and muddy and all ugly on pictures, but man, I was wrong.
I mean, you can really tell the true red, true blue and true yellow from the pictures , but still it all come together in creating one superrocking look!

The color inspiration obviously came from the colors of Woody Woodpecker himself.
The blue body, yellow beak and of course the red head.

But, come to think of it, this look is definately suitable as a Merdeka Celebration look, as its already August, and our independence day is so near.
MERDEKA!!

First Ever Post!!!

Hey there.
As the title says, this is my first ever post here.

Just as introduction, I have been doing makeup seriously for about 2 years now.
Although I'm just a self thought makeup artist, I have learned a lot on my own, from books, magazines, and also from a number of makeup gurus that are kind enough to share their knowledge and experiences through video tutorials on Youtube. I thank them so much for their generosity.

With passion and inspiration from these gurus, I, myself have started sharing my knowledge, experiences, and my own touch of creavity online.
I have done several tutorial videos, entered a few contest held by Youtube gurus, and even winning one.
So now, my only hope is that, I could be an inspiration for others just like these gurus have been to me.

Here, on this blog, I'm gonna share pics of the looks I'll be uploading on Youtube, and also other looks that I did not manage to film. Hopefully, I could also manage to post pictures of my freelancing work online.
